About Rumi Darwaza :
Turkish Gate is another name for Rumi Darwaza as its design is similar to the Gateway of Constantinople. It is a specimen of the Awadhi architectural style. It was built in the year 1784. The name Rumi was taken from present-day Rome, the capital of the eastern Roman kingdom. The Gateway is 60 feet tall.
The upper part of the Gateway is made up of a vast Chattrti, an umbrella-shaped dome. The dome had been carved exquisitely. A lantern placed on the top of the Rumi Darwaza would lighten up the night and illuminate the sky, presenting an incredible scene. Rumi Darwaza lies next to the Asafi Imambara in Lucknow.
In the ancient days, Rumi Darwaza was referred to mark the entry point to the city, and it is an emblem of the city of Lucknow. A visit to the Rumi Darwaza must be on the top of the visitors’ to-do list. You will be stunned to see the detailed architectural designs and patterns carved on the Gateway’s walls.
